So he left there before the ark of the covenant of the LORD Asaph and his brethren, to minister before the ark continually, as every day’s work required:
So David left Asaph and his fellow Levites there in front of the ark of the Lord's covenant to serve before the ark every day, doing whatever work was needed each day.
David appointed Asaph and other worship leaders to serve God daily at the ark, establishing regular worship and care for this sacred place.
📚 Historical Context
In the time of King David, after he had successfully brought the Ark of the Covenant to Jerusalem, he organized the worship and service around it to establish a permanent center for God's presence among the Israelites. David specifically appointed Asaph, a skilled Levite musician, along with his relatives, to lead daily ministry before the Ark, ensuring that rituals and praises were performed as part of the ongoing religious duties. This reflected the cultural emphasis in ancient Israel on the Levites' role in maintaining God's worship and the nation's spiritual life.
